Outside North America the biscuit is typically hard, flat, and unleavened; in North America it is typically a soft, leavened quick bread.

Canada is known for its lovely Biscuits and Bannock . And you can get the greatest biscuits anywhere you go.

One of the hobbies I have is to read about food and their origins.

And I found the story behind biscuits is quite interesting…

Freeze your butter and grate it into the mixture!

Use cold buttermilk

Whisk with a Spatula so your hands don’t warm up the dough

Don’t knead your dough.

You’re going to need:

1 Stick of cold butter

2.5 Cup of unbleached white flour

1 Cup of cold buttermilk

1 Egg

Cheddar cheese

Salt

1/2 tsp of baking soda

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 475

Into your baking pan, place some parchment paper and set it aside.

Start by grating your cold stick butter and the cheddar cheese into the flour.

The reason why we grate butter is that the fat will distribute into your dough evenly, which will make your biscuits light and fluffy all over.

Another reason, is that I found this is the easiest way to make fluffy buttermilk biscuits

Second, add the egg, salt and the baking soda.

Pour the buttermilk into the mixture and mix everything with the Spatula until well combined.

When you place your cut biscuits into the parchment paper, make sure they’re touching. This will help them rise when they are in the oven.
